Together we produce a monthly magazine for sale to the public. FLACK magazine is written by our homeless members, and includes a comprehensive what’s on listings for the city.
We also have a Film Unit and offer Homelessness Awareness Training workshops for professionals, colleges and community groups.
Member’s Achievements April - Dec 2012
57 homeless members contributed 6868 hours.
36 volunteers from the wider community contributed 3164 hours.
21 members’ article or artwork selected for publication
13 members have gained employment.
7 homeless people have become FLACK Vendors
18 members received at least 9 hours of individual tuition on FLACK training scheme.
2 members presented at a TED X Conference
14 members reported improved mental health
9 members performed live to promote FLACK
1 memberorganized and led a fundraising walk for FLACK, raising over £500
6 members completed the 17 mile walk
2 vendors have sold over 1000 copies of FLACK magazine
For every £1 invested FLACK we delivered £3 of social return.
A preliminary Social Return On Investment analysis of our pilot phase reported that our members’ achievements equated to over £150,000 of value to the individuals involved and savings to the public purse.
For example:
The average Class A drug taker costs society £13,200 annually in the UK. This figure represents ability to reallocate resources to that value it is not a cost saving.
